Intro Reading

In Claire Bishop's article Digital Divide, she argues the problem that mainstream contemporary art simultaneously disavows and depends on the digital revolution. There are a variety of categories in contemporary art such as performance art, social practice, assemblage-based sculpture, analog film and so on. They seem not having connections with digital art but when we look deep inside, they are intimately related to the technological processes. I really agree with the author that contemporary art cannot be separated with digital media. Couple of years ago I may believe that art can be independent without any digital technologies as well. But as I explore deeper and deeper, digital contents can improve the pace of exploring significantly. Sometimes I find making video clips or photographies more effective in expressing my ideas. It's an era which comprehension and creation take a great part no matter what you do, and I think it's time to abandon the prejudice.
