claire bishop's digital divide

why do we stick with the old? it's not only mainstream artists, but the mainstream documenters and consumers who have a fixation with the analog. even after a "digital revolution", artists use new methods to allude to the past, and old methods to synthesize the future. somehow we all got into this trend of hipsterdom that seeks an edge, some difference, from the push of capitalistic development of new product. the "new" is interpretive, to fashion and to latest technological release. we can re-release old products as a "new" product. our "repressed relationship with the digital", is self-deprecative, and prevents us from realizing our potential as revolutionary groundbreakers.
