"As We May Think" by Vannevar Bush
Considering the time period, 1945, that this article was published, you really appreciate
how ahead of its time it is. In his article Bush describes technologies that are pretty much
common place today. Some of the things he describes such as voice interaction. When most of
hear this we think of Apple's Siri, which you control with voice as if you were talking to
a person. Another idea he describes are wearable information devices which aren't exactly
as common place as Siri but companies have recently made strides in bringing such technology,
known as Smart watches, into the mainstream. He later describes the world that has come to an
age of cheap complex devices of great reliability. This statement is most evident in most
personal devices that come equipped with cameras. Phones, tablets, computers even gaming consoles.
All these products with cameras most likely have photo editing software also installed. Such as
the popular photo sharing platform, Instagram, users can snap a photo, edit it and share it
with friends all with just a few clicks. I, myself do not usually take a lot of photos, but
the times that I have I can't help but edit them and see what it would look like with all
the various filters. The filter I find myseld using the most is one that darkens the shadows
and also sharpens the image of the focus of the photo. The same one also helps some colors
stand out even more. Here are a few examples. The bottom ones are edited.
