Network.Project.
A couple of my ideas for this project were a little bit beyond my means and abilities, and a few of the others seemed too personal to me. So finally I settled on mapping a network. Two networks actually. I used Adobe Illustrator to make a graphic that links butterfly species to their migratory ranges on one level, and overlaid a network map of major storms and the areas that they affected. My concept behind this sprang from my response to the readings for this section. The "Random Universe" reading brought to mind the "butterfly effect"" concept. The proverbial example is that if a butterfly flaps its wings on one side of the world it could cause a hurricane on the other. I clearly couldn't actually find a way to connect butterfly movements to wind and weather patterns, but I was hoping to recall this theory through my project.
Despite my attempts to make the project easier on myself, I actually had quite a bit of trouble finding migratory species of butterflies and also their various locations. Also, Illustrator is completely foreign to me, so I had a lot of issues with my project that even google couldn't help me solve believe it or not. Nonetheless I persevered. I wanted to use Illustrator to get the cleanest vectors possible and to test my hand in a new medium.
