    Intro Reading

The Second Link Albert-Laszlo Barabasi The random universe “Each of us is part of a large cluster, the worldwide social net, from which no one is left out.” Leonhard Euler, "Graphs or networks have properties, hidden in their construction, that limit or enhance our ability to do things with them" The construction and structure of graphs or networks is the key to understanding the complex world around us. Thinking about connections and how the world is related I think about family. In my own family we are related because of a lineage of people and for me and my siblings we share the same parents. My cousins and I share the same grand parents. When I look at my family tree I think about all the people that I am related to but don’t even know. Then I think about humanity and if I am related to you, the reader, or the president a=or how I am related to Justin Bieber. Then I think of the Bible and the story of Adam and eve and what a beautiful plan God has for humanity and connection is a part of that plan.

    Six Degrees of Separation
"To demonstrate that people on Earth today are much closer than ever, a member of the group suggested a test. He offered a bet that we could name any person among earth's one and a half billion inhabitants and through at most five acquaintances, one of which he knew personally, he could link to the chosen one "Karinthy's 1929 insight that people are linked by at most five links was the first published appearance of the concept we know today as "six degrees of separation." Following social links it is easy to see we are connected... There is power in knowing people, who know people, who know people who you need to or want to know. Using this power to your advantage could benefit buissness, relationships, and success. To think that a formula can represent human connections intrigues me. It makes the world seem small and simple- with 7 billion people we can all connect! There is a geometry that keeps our social networks balanced. In my project i would like to re-create this geometry.

what happens to an image once it is downloaded from the internet? I wonder this quite often because as a photographer my work is often found on other sites and billions have access to my art. I heard a story of a photographer in LA who did an engagement shoot for a friend. My brother was traveling in China and found a stationary store. A friend he was with recognized a photo printed on a journal- it was the couple photographed by his friend! Complete plaigarism they bought a few copied and gave them to the original artist.
